Daemonen - The Demon Rollercoaster - Tivoli Gardens - Copenhagen
Roll up! Roll up! All the fun of the fair!
Tivoli Gardens - a great place to relax on a sunny day in Copenhagen... But, do you dare to ride Daemonen (The Demon Rollercoaster)? Thrill seekers will get all the adrenaline they need in just under two minutes on this floorless rollercoaster. Reaching a top speed of 48 mph (77 kph), this helter skelter ride incorporates four inversions including a loop, an Immelmann, and a zero G-roll, and reaches a height of 92 feet (28 m)! Built in 2004, this ride replaced the old Slangen rollercoaster.
Tivoli Gardens is the second oldest amusement park in the world, and covers 21 acres right in the heart of Copenhagen, capital city of Denmark. The park opened in 1843 and is continually evolving. Largely burnt down by Nazi sympathizers in 1943, it took the locals only a few weeks to get the park back in operation with temporary buildings. Today it remains the world's most popular city park.
The original photograph has been edited in Topaz photoFXlab, using Adjust, Detail and Clean filters, to develop a more painterly feel.
This action-filled image portrays the highs and the lows, and would be equally suited to a greetings card for someone needing encouragement to face life's ups and downs, or as art work for the wall of a child's bedroom.

What an incredible shot Julia - you can feel the energy here and almost hear the screams. Phenomenal work! F/V
Julia Springer replied:
Thanks Lianne - it was one of those shots that took a while to achieve, but was worth the wait!

What a great photograph Julia! I had the opportunity to visit Tivoli a long time ago back in 1971 when I was 13. I had won 1st prize in a Lego Make a Model Block contest. My family and I were awarded 17-day European vacation. There were no modern steel looping coasters at that time, as far as I know. The roller coaster I rode at Tivoli at that time even had a brake person on board to slow the train down where necessary. There are some wonderful memories here for me. Thanks for posting such a wonderful photo!
Julia Springer replied:
Wow! What a wonderful prize, Kellice. Thanks so much for sharing - triggering an emotional response in the viewer has to be the ultimate aim of any artist, and I am delighted to have awakened your happy memories!
