Two sailors head out into the trade wind off the eastern coast of the Dominican Republic.
This painterly image shows a sailboat tacking out into the onshore wind over the sparkling waters of the Atlantic. The Dominican Republic occupies the eastern two-thirds of the Caribbean island of Hispaniola, and was the site of the first European settlements in the New World after being discovered by Christopher Columbus.
Taken in the Punta Cana region of the Domincian Republic, this photograph has been post-processed using Topaz Simplify to apply an oil painting filter over the boat and its crew. The image was then blended with two painted textures from Melissa Gallo to achieve the overall painterly effect.
