Afternoon sunlight reflecting off the walls of the office buildings highlight not only the adjacent Old State House, but also spread through the city of Boston to illuminate the statue of Paul Revere and the city harbor in this concept piece which pays tribute to Boston as the Light of the New World.
Founded in 1630, Boston has long been involved in writing the history of the United States. The Boston Tea Party is known to all, and retaliation by the British for this act of civil disobedience lead to the American Revolution, culminating in independence for the colony. In the 19th century, Boston became the intellectual, medical and educational center of the nation, as well as being a critical transportation hub for the New England area. During the Civil War, many anti-slavery activities were based in the city, and today its historic "Freedom Trail" is known to many millions of people who have visited the city and followed the historic walking tour marked by red brick or painted lines.
This concept piece is a counterpoint to Light of the Maya.
