Boy with Llama
A young boy stands with his llama on the hillside close to Lago San Pablo in Ecuador. This lake is close to the market town of Otavalo in the Andes mountain range north of Quito. Common farm animals in this region, the llama is a relative of the camel and provides a source of fibre, milk, and meat, as well as acting as a sure-footed pack animal. The child is of the indigenous Otavalo people, renowned for their skilled handicrafts, which are sold in the nearbly market - one of the largest indigenous markets in South America.
This small image is taken from a photograph which has been post-processed using Topaz photoFXlab and filters to develop a painterly, oil-painting effect with an added texture to imitate a rustic canvas. It would make a lovely card or gift for anyone with a love of South America, for animal lovers, or for those with an interest in other cultures.
